The Vista Model 3100 is a gas chromatograph used to separate and measure the individual
components of gas or liquid samples. The analyzer operates unattended, automatically
sampling and analyzing process streams. Analysis functions are controlled by a Gas
Chromatographic Controller (GCC).
The analyzer assembly (see Figure 1-1) includes an insulated, air-heated oven compartment,
a heater control and solenoids assembly, a regulator and gauge panel, and an electronics
housing. The analyzer may be mounted on a wall, a rack, or a floor stand.
The insulated oven assembly houses an Isothermal Oven which contains the analytical
column(s), the detectors (TCD and/or FID), and the sample valves — the Micro Liquid
Injection Valve (MLIV) and/or the Model 2 Continuous Performance (M2CP) valve.
The electronics housing consists of two compartments. The top compartment contains the
Gas Chromatographic Controller (GCC) on the right side and the Detector Amplifier Controller
which houses the Bridge Amplifier for the TCD and/or the Electrometer for the FID and the
FPD on the left side. The Flame Photometric Detector (FPD) assembly may be located in this
area. To the right, below the GCC, is the Heater Control & Solenoids assembly; it contains the
Isothermal Oven Temperature Controller and the MLIV Temperature Controller Assemblies,
solenoid valves, alarm switches and electrical terminations.
Just below the Heater Control & Solenoids assembly is the uninsulated Regulator and Gauge
Panel that contains all the pressure gauges and regulators required for operation of the
analyzer (with variations based on application). If the analyzer has the optional Electronic
