The restriction orifice (RO) is used basically to control or restrict the flow that flows through a pipe.
The orifice generates a restriction to the flow of the fluid, causing a pressure drop in the process. The loss of pressure is permanent. The pressure drop is expected and depends on the diameter of the hole and its design. The flow rate through this element depends on the area of the orifice, the pressure and the operating temperature.
As a calculation you will find also the orifice discharge coefficient.
